Clark College Part-time Retail Clerk 2 - Bookstore in Vancouver, Washington

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, non-permanent Retail Clerk 2 with a background in web site maintenance and graphic design. This position is expected to work approximately 15 hours a week, occasionally up to 30 hours during peak periods. This position supports the Clark College Bookstore. The ideal candidate would be flexible regarding scheduling and available Monday-- Friday, between 7am to 1pm (with an occasional early morning, evening, and weekend as needed). The Retail Clerk 2 performs a variety of duties such as web order fulfillment, site maintenance, and graphic design of store marketing materials. This position interacts with customers and provides customer service by responding to inquiries from students and shoppers regarding their site experience, purchases and returns, and provides product support, establishes and follows storage guidelines, and produces and orders store forms and other materials.   At Clark, we value equity, diversity, and inclusion. Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Web Order Fulfillment and Processing - Process and fulfill store web orders on daily basis. Includes managing peak order periods with other duties. Suggest improvements, know and understand the web system as it relates to the store inventory system. Maintain records and uphold privacy. May lead and train others in order fulfillment and processing. 
  • Customer Service -- Assist web customers via email, store ticketing tool, and phone, answer questions, and troubleshoot recurring order issues. 
  • Web Site Maintenance - Maintain a professional, functional, and effective website for The Bookstore. For example, editing existing pages on third party vendor site, adding marketing assets and occasional new pages, reviewing for timely and pertinent information, updating product catalogs with item information and images with occasional image edits. Review site for accuracy and functionality and make recommendations for improvements and revisions. 
  • Marketing and Promotional Material - Design and produce bookstore marketing and promotional materials, print and non-print assets, under tight time constraints. Collaborate on project details with co-workers, other departments within Clark College, and with outside vendors. Provide progress reports to appropriate parties on each project. Effectively maintain archives at the close of each project. 
  • Social Media- Create and post, with approval, to store's social media outlets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Six (6) months experience with graphic design concepts, application, and best practices; Adobe Creative Suite software (primarily Photoshop & Illustrator); and knowledge of industry printing standards. 

Six (6) months experience with web design concept and application; including HTML, CSS, comfort reading and troubleshooting code, and knowledge of web best practices and accessibility.

Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other Cloud based storage applications, FTP (File Transfer Protocols), as well as the ability to quickly learn new software systems as required.

Portfolio with examples of web and graphic design work for application review
