Location: Vancouver, Washington Type: Contract Job #7728 Overview: ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Civil Engineer position will be responsible for the structural health of the company's transmission system. This includes designing, analyzing, and maintaining everything from buildings and towers to power lines and cables. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA. Materials are predominantly steel and concrete, but other materials such as wood and aluminum are occasionally used. All work to be reviewed by BFTE senior engineers or technical team leads. Tasks include: Analysis of existing structures for structural adequacy in the case of new/increased loading and/or changed design criteria. Results of analysis will be used by team leads for decisions regarding using existing structures as-is, modifying existing structures, or replacing. Produce structural designs for new structures including production of installation drawings, design criteria drawings, minor structural detailing, and others. Provide construction support. Transmission Structural Design (Structures, Footings): Provide engineering support and assistance for various structure types as transmission line supports. These structure types include lattice steel (or aluminum) towers, single or multiple steel pole structures, single or multiple wood pole structures, concrete structures, and others. All work to be reviewed by BFTE senior engineers or technical team leads. Tasks include: Analysis of existing structures for structural adequacy in the case of new/increased loading and/or changed design criteria. Results of analysis will be used by team leads for decisions regarding using existing structures as-is, modifying existing structures, or replacing. Produce structural designs of new structures Including production of installation drawings, design criteria drawings, minor structural detailing, and others. Conduct design and review of fall protection on new and existing structures. Provide construction support. Telecommunication Structural Design (Structures, Footings, Non-structural Components): Provide engineering support and assistance for company's extensive communication network (predominantly microwave) that is constantly undergoing modifications and enhancements. Structure types include lattice steel towers, monopoles, mounting hardware, waveguide/ice bridges, and others. All work to be reviewed by BFTE senior engineers or technical team leads. Tasks include: Analysis of existing structures and non-structural components (waveguide bridge, cable trays, battery racks, etc.) for structural adequacy in the case of new/increased loading and/or changed design criteria. Results of analysis will be used by team leads for decisions regarding using existing structures as-is, modifying existing structures, or replacing. Conduct retrofit and modification designs. Develop and document structural design criteria used by outside vendors to design new communication structures. Conduct design and review of fall protection on new and existing structures
