SEH America Inc. Administrative Assistant - Bilingual Japanese/English in Vancouver, Washington

SEH America is located in Vancouver, Washington. It is one of 13 Shin-Etsu Handotai Group (SEH) facilities located around the world. SEH is the world-leader in the manufacturing of silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry. BILINGUAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (English/Japanese)

JOB DUTIES

• Translate technical documents, presentations, procedures, and reports related to a manufacturing, engineering, and/or support area.

• Compile data and generate monthly and other reports.

• Coordinates translation projects relating to multiple manufacturing and/or support areas.

• Translates highly confidential and/or proprietary information. Examples include corporate policies, quality issues, and technical instructions/procedures.

• Occasionally serve as an interpreter for business visitors from Japan. May also act as interpreter for employees traveling to Japan. Travel to Japan is required.

• Must be available to assist with company events and work related issues during non-standard business hours.

• Assist Japanese vendors and visiting staff with translation needed to set up their relocation, paperwork, and other matters related to their time at SEH America.

• Other duties as assigned including assisting with travel arrangements, meeting coordination, and other administrative tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced knowledge of written English/Japanese languages.

• Excellent analytical writing skills with demonstrated grammar, spelling, and proofreading accuracy in English and Japanese languages.

• Experienced with standard formatting of business correspondence and reports.

• Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office products.

• Ability to continuously advance technical knowledge of specified manufacturing, engineering, and/or support area.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Excellent organization skills and acute attention to detail.

• High level of discretion in working with highly confidential and/or proprietary information.

• Must have good interpersonal skills and be versatile and adaptable in dealing with unpredictable situations; must possess excellent human relations skills.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

• Understanding of concepts and terminology related to quality, manufacturing, and engineering.

• Strong cultural knowledge of Japan and Japanese business practices.

• Experience in technical translation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires an ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Frequent sitting for long intervals. Close vision (<2 feet) required. Frequently lifts up to 5 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs. Walks and climbs stairs on an occasional basis. Normal twisting, stretching, lifting associated with a standard office environment.
