Hub International Insurance Accounting Associate-1 in Vancouver, British Columbia

Based in Vancouver, BC and reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Insurance Accounting Associate will be part of the SPGC Finance Team. The successful applicant will maintain and distribute existing reporting and analysis as related to financial and operational metrics.

The primary responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable

·Receive and process carrier statements and invoices.

·Investigate discrepancies with premiums, commissions and taxes.

·Communicate and work with carriers and underwriting to resolve discrepancies.

·Process and issue payments to Carriers via cheque or bank wire.

·Address any emails that come in from carriers and coordinate communication between relevant stakeholders.

·Process Claims transactions and payments as needed.

·Process Intercompany transactions as needed.

Accounts Receivable

·Processing of direct bill financing transactions

·Support the Cash Applications team by supplying needed information to process receipts from Brokers

·Coordinate, process, and log cheque deposits for use by the Cash Applications team

·Communicate and work with underwriting and brokers to resolve discrepancies.

·Issue and send out return premium checks to Brokers.

General

·Assist with month-end systems close

·Assist with production of monthly statements and reports

·Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

·Intermediate-or-above Excel skills required

·Bachelor’s degree or diploma in finance/accounting, or bookkeeping experience an asset

·Working towards a CPA designation an asset

·Insurance industry experience an asset

·Must have good written and verbal communication skills

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·Work under pressure to deadlines

·High degree of accuracy with a good eye for detail

·Self-motivated and proactive
