PRIMARY FUNCTION: Perform functions to direct and control materials management and purchasing work groups. Procures tooling, equipment, raw materials, component parts and supplier service at the lowest possible cost consistent with accepted standards of quality and service within established time frames. Manage activities of those engaged in the movement of raw or finished materials, storage, production scheduling, purchasing, and inventory control activities. Engage in the more sensitive negotiations for critical and high value items. Control, measure and regulate efficient inventory levels of materials, commodities and purchased items, and determines final disposition. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the continuance of business systems. Ensure a viable and accurate inventory control system. Supervise the activities of materials, purchasing, production planning Implements established policies and procedures as they relate to direct materials, indirect materials and subcontracted services and recommends changes to improve performance levels. Maintains energetic, complete cost reduction program on all purchasing activities, provides a status report on all cost savings programs. Perform other job-related duties as required. Is responsible for maintaining inventory levels to manufacture the product while meeting OP requirements and re-establishing material standards each year. Analyzing system requirements giving advice and making decisions regarding business systems analysis, design, development and maintenance. Decisions are made which could impact the safety and wellbeing of employees under direct supervision.
