Job Description:

Responsible for assisting the Brokerage manager with implementing and overseeing the rollout of new department projects. Supervise the Brokerage team members and help to address any employee issues. Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist manager with strategizing and implementing any new department projects

  • Oversee the onboarding and training of new hires, by creating a training module and administering Gistnet and Cargowise courses for new hires to complete

  • Provide feedback to the Brokerage Manager for employees’ annual reviews.

  • Provide strong customer service and build client relationships by attending client meetings

  • Ensure team member are in accordance with corporate policies and are meeting the company’s performance standards. Address any employee concerns with the department’s manager

  • Assist with team leaders’ and manager’s workload in their absence.

  • Perform duties under general supervision, and report any issues that incur to manager.

  • Processing Customs brokerage for air and ocean shipments

  • Data entry and processing of various import related documentation for submission to U.S. Customs and PGA’s (participating Government Agencies)

  • Follow up on Customs matters and resolve problems

  • Answer both customer inquiries and inter-company inquiries

  • Handle remote filings

  • Classify goods in the harmonized tariff schedule (broad range of commodities)

  • Performs other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by manager and supervisors.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Customs Brokerage for both air and ocean shipments

  • Excellent leadership skills, such as being approachable and able to train others

  • Must be a team player, by being proactive and having a flexible attitude.

  • Ability to have a high level of discretion and confidentiality

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment

  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of Customs Brokerage software, experience working with Cargowise is a plus

  • Customs Brokerage license is required

Salary: $70,000-$75,000 depending on experience
