Aston Carter Procurement Specialist in Valley Cottage, New York

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing an expenditure base of $15-$20 million per year for materials and/or services

  • Source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the organization’s needs for direct and indirect materials and services.

  • Products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery competitive levels consistent with company goals and performance standards.

  • Timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned consistent with ERP software requirements or as appropriately concluded with a Planner.

  • Initiating purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools

  • Arranging for submission and inspection of sample products as required

  • Maintaining close coordination with plant, product development and facilities management to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.

  • Securing and analyzing actions, negotiating prices and terms with suppliers, and recommending suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.

  • Interviewing and conferring with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management.

  • Negotiating prices and delivery terms.

  • Coordinating the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services consistent with ERP requirements or as arranged with requisitions.

  • Coordinating as appropriate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.

  • Visiting suppliers' facilities to qualify them as new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality and/or delivery problems.

  • Management of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process

  • Maintain procurement analytics to drive procurement strategies

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Engineering

  • 5 – 7 Years’ of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in manufacturing and sub-contracted work environments

  • Some product knowledge and familiarity as well as experience in a manufacturing shop preferred.

  • Metal procurement experience a Plus

  • CPIM or Equivalent Certification a Plus

  • Epicor ERP System Experience a Plus
