Position Overview:
Prepares food for patients, staff, visitors and catering functions. Coordinates own food production with others so foods are ready and served at specified times. May relieve in other food service production areas such as cold production, bakery, trayline or cafeteria as needed. Food prepared by the cook requires a high level of cooking expertise.

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
Trade school program in cooking or enrollment is required. (experience may be substituted)
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
- SS-Serve Save Certified preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
- Experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility cooking is desirable.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Must be able to read, write and speak English as well as understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions.
Must have sufficient mathematical ability to perform basic measurement and portioning activities including increasing and decreasing recipes.
This position requires that an employee have knowledge of weights, measures and conversions to calculate amounts and follow recipes.
Knowledge of modified diets is useful.
Ability to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.

Pay Range is $30.74 to $35.35 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
