The Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, and Nutrition Department seeks a P/T Technical Assistant. The incumbent will assist faculty, the Lead Technical Assistant, and students in the set up, preparation, and operation of equipment in department laboratories. The Technical Assistant will assist in cleaning, sanitizing , and storing equipment while adhering to the Westchester County Department of Health's guidelines and health code. The candidate will assist in maintaining inventory controls, receiving, storing, and issuing food and supplies, filling requisitions, rotation of ingredients, laboratory set up/breakdown, and the organization of department supplies and equipment. The incumbent will replenish supplies and check availability of apparatus for class use. Assisting with clerical duties is an additional responsibility, as well as laundering departmental garments, kitchen, and dining room linens. The P/T Technical Assistant may also perform other incidental tasks as needed. Uniform provided; some meals included.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a high school or equivalency diploma and one year of experience in a Hospitality enterprise.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should be credentialed as Servsafe Manager or earn this credential when employment commences. Immediately upon hire, the department will assist in underwriting certification in ServSafe Manager.

Additional Information:

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule will be up to 28 hours per week, over a four-day work week. Flexibility, with some evenings and Saturdays required.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $15.50/hour. No benefits.
