New York Medical College Assistant Professor in Valhalla, New York

Overview

The Division of Physical Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, in the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) and Institute of Public Health at New York Medical College invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, contingent upon the qualifications of the candidate. For this position, experienced faculty with a record of teaching and scholarship are preferred. However, recent graduates of research-based doctoral degree programs will be considered, as will be DPT prepared candidates with recognition by ABPTS as a clinical specialist in an area of expertise, and evidence of the capacity to develop a scholarly agenda. Priorities for areas of teaching and scholarship include: 1) orthopaedics, 2) educational technology and curricular design. Specialization in orthopaedics is preferred. Additional r esponsibilities include program administrative activities and service consistent with the college’s mission. Research opportunities exist to collaborate with faculty in other departments within the School of Health Sciences and Practice, and within the School of Medicine and School of Biomedical Sciences. Local clinical sites and institutions with which the program collaborates include Westchester Medical Center, Blythedale Children’s Hospital, and Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. The full-time faculty position is based on a 12-month salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct/instruct assigned academic content courses including lectures and demonstrations

  • Conduct/instruct assigned clinically focused courses

  • Advise physical therapy students

  • Provide professional service in support of the community, department, school, college and/or profession

  • Conduct scholarly work

Qualifications

Education requirement:

  • A professional degree in physical therapy and either a research-based doctoral degree or a clinical doctoral degree with ABPTS clinical specialist certification and evidence of a scholarly capacity.

  • An active scholarly agenda and record of publication and grant-supported scholarship is preferred.

  • Strong interest in providing and promoting interactive models of teaching and learning.

  • Dedication to professional and community service.

    Licenses or certifications:

  • Eligibility for New York State licensure as a physical therapist.

    Prior experience:

  • Prior higher education teaching experience is preferred

  • Able to conduct classroom and laboratory demonstrations related to clinical content.

Minimum Salary

USD $88,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $110,000.00/Yr.
