South Georgia Medical Center MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST in Valdosta, Georgia


  • Responsible for quality performance and reporting of analyses of technical procedures for the benefit of optimal patient care within the limits of laboratory policy and procedures according to FDA, JCAHO, CAP, STATE, AABB, OSHA regulations.


  • Qualifies as a technologist according to CLIA-88 standards and the Georgia Clinical Laboratory Licensure Law. Must be registered with a recognized Medical Technologist certifying agency such as ASCP, AMT, HHS/HEW, AAB or others as an MT. Persons who possess the technologist qualifications under Georgia State regulations and have recently moved to the state and/or have never worked as a medical technologist in the state or have recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified once as a technologists for 12 months to afford the persons an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care (i.e. Phlebotomy for laboratory testing and Point of Care testing) appropriate to the age of the patient’s seen in their assigned area. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide the care needed by our patient groups (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric). Normal color vision in order to discriminate and verify diagnostic laboratory stains and color dependent test.
