Monitor Technician - Per Diem - Days

Department: COMMAND CENTER - TELEMETRY

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Command Center Supervisor, The Monitor Technician will work indirectly with all members of the nursing units, ancillary departments and physicians to coordinate the communication of remote telemetry. The monitor technician is responsible for the distribution, monitoring, validating, and documenting of the remote telemetries

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Identify patients and verify physician orders prior to performing interventions or care

  • Perform computer operations essential to the electronic medical record and telemetry monitoring system.

  • Perform the following to include but not limited to telephone functions, fax/copier and nurse call systems.

  • Demonstrates accuracy, skill and timeliness in duties to include but not limited to, documentation of clinical data into required logs, posting of clinical data into appropriate IT system (i.e. telemetry strips).

  • Understand and verify cardiac rhythms

  • Communicate timely and effectively with nursing staff

  • Elevate immediate patient issues to supervisor or designee

  • Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of rhythm analysis course and pass test within 6 months of hire

    PREFERRED:

  • Experience in the healthcare setting.

  • Background in Medical Terminology
