Resource Center for Independent Living Customer Service and Authorization Representative in Utica, New York

Annual Non-Exempt Salary: $37,850 (plus 5% bilingual differential)

Fresh college students are encouraged to apply.

  • 37.5 hour work week, 7.5 hour work day, flexible work schedule menu to include the ability to work: a four-day work week, four-day work week, every other week, or a typical five-day work schedule

Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Communicate with health insurance companies related to authorizations of services.

  • Process, maintain documentation, and ensure the accuracy of incoming program referrals and authorizations.

  • Monitor and track ongoing authorizations and Medicaid eligibility.

  • Contact authorizing source and program staff of expiring authorizations.

  • Research, respond to, and correct errors with rosters and reauthorizations.

Education:

  • A College Degree in Human Services or related field is required; applicable experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Entry Level position. Training will be provided. One-to-two years of customer service experience. Experience working with authorizations for services and insurance companies preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of Medicaid is highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Fluency and proficiency (reading, writing, speaking) in a second language, Spanish is preferred, this is not required for this position.
