PAY RANGE 15-18. (Depending on experience) An entry level CNC (computer numerical control) machine operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines in an automotive metal parts manufacturing facility. The primary responsibilities of the job include: Load and unloading parts in CNC machines: This involves loading materials into the machine and unloading them after cycle is completed. The operator then monitors the machine's operation, adjusting the settings as needed to ensure the production of high-quality parts. Training will be provided in making machine offsets which ensure parts are within tolerance and operating the machine in a safe and efficient manner. Cleaning and lubricating the machine: The operator is responsible for maintaining the machine's optimal performance by diligently clearing metal chips and ensuring proper lubrication. This involves monitoring coolant concentration levels and adding coolant and water as necessary, ensuring the machine operates efficiently and maintains accuracy. Training will be provided in the use of refractometer to monitor coolant level. Inspecting finished parts: The operator is responsible for in-process inspection of parts to ensure that they meet quality standards. This may involve using measuring tools such as Dial Gages, bore gages, micrometers, reef gages and calipers. Training will be provided in proper use and care of gages. Recognize and report machine problems: The operator should be able to identify and report machine problems, such as mechanical, electrical, or software-related issues to the supervisor. Maintaining records: The operator should keep accurate records of machine settings, materials used, parts produced, and in-process inspections to ensure that production runs are consistent and repeatable. Training will be provided in standard operating, inspection, and reporting procedures. Adhering to safety standards: The operator should follow established safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. Includes wearing PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear plugs. Participate in 5S: The operator must participate in 5S activities to ensure cleanliness and efficiency of the workstations. The 5S activity entails sweeping, mopping, using degreaser and shop rags to ensure the work area, machine surroundings, inspection table, and the machine is clean. Also, keeping the gages, You must comply with company safety rules and regulations in machinery operation.
