This company, based in the Urbandale, Iowa area, offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded. This position is for candidates with the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. To succeed in this role, you will need to be comfortable participating in compliance, interacting with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and reviewing schedules reporting processes. This is a job where someone with a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets can thrive.

Key responsibilities

  • In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

  • Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision Requirements - Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Experience with budget forecasting

  • Foundational knowledge in budget forecasting

  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial statement preparation

  • Deep understanding of general ledger

  • Command of journal entries

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Vow to meet business deadlines

  • 5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
