The Department of Bioengineering at The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for the position of Research Program Coordinator. The Research Program Coordinator will assist Dr. Mark Anastasio in the management and coordination of his research laboratory and provide publications and grant proposal support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative

Prepare, create, and keep current a variety of documents, including CVs, biographies, biosketches, annual reports, and spending tables.

Update biodata as needed in the my.bioe portal.

Manage calendar appointments for research related meetings, both internal and external, and notify participants. Lab meetings will require polling students for availability each semester.

Interface with the Engineering Business Shared Services office to ensure processing and approval of research group purchase orders and invoice payments. Monitor grant and non-grant research account balances and track expenditures as needed.

Arrange research related travel, including conference registrations, speaking engagements, and travel reservations, as well as the associated reconciliation, expense report entry, etc. Add travel arrangements to Dr. Anastasio\'s calendar.

Maintain the research group website.

Utilize software to track letter writing requests.

Maintain internal databases for tracking published manuscripts, supporting grants, and group data tracking.

Serve as a T-card and P-card holder for administrative support to Dr. Anastasio\'s research group, including but not limited to purchasing and travel related expenses for research meetings, conferences, and speaking engagements.

Work with HR shared services to process new appointments and renewals for graduate students, postdoctoral research associates, research scientists, and visiting scholars.

Assume additional duties to further the mission of Dr. Anastasio\'s laboratory.

Scientific Publications

Edit/proofread scientific manuscripts prior to submission for grammar and readability, ensuring the text, references, and accompanying files conform to the guidelines specific to each journal.

Shepherd manuscripts through the publication process, beginning with initial electronic submission through the revision process, to finalization of proofs, corresponding with coauthors and editorial offices as needed.

Edit editorials, general science pieces, and publicity pieces.

Serve as point-contact with the department\'s communications and marketing team for news articles related to research papers.

Grant Proposals

Assist with grant proposal and annual progress report writing, including editing, formatting, and referencing, as well as collecting required information to ensure forms such as biosketches are up to date.

Finalize documents for grant proposals/progress reports and work closely with relevant business/grant offices to ensure timely submission and compliance with agency guidelines.

Respond to requests from both on-campus and off-campus collaborators for grant-related documents for proposals/progress reports.

Ensure all publications comply with funding agency mandates, including article deposition into required databases.

Ensure research group members meet funding agency compliance requirements such as financial disclosures, research training, and NIH Commons IDs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree

A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training, and/or work experience in the area of administration, project management, grant management, or research administration.

o (NOTE: Master\'s Deg ee in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of the departmental, college, and campus policies and procedures, as well as the ability to establish working relationships with staff among the department, college, and campus.

Experience with scientific writing.

Knowledge of imaging research.

Ability to work independently.

Must be able to communicate effectively with others (including proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation).

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general office practices and procedures expected.

Must be able to handle confidential information and must remain discreet in all activities.
