    Position Summary:

    Performs routine and specialized painting, wall covering, and related tasks to maintain the condition and appearance of the Medical Center Buildings and Facilities.

    Qualifications:

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 3-5 years of experience in/with training applied to working within the specifications of applicable building codes such as B.O.C.A, E.P.A., N.F.P.A., O.S.H.A., and J.C.A.H.O. requirements. AndInnate work skills, knowledge and hands-on type formal training in skilled carpentry trades, or building maintenance carpentry work. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Essential Functions:

  • REMOVES OLD FINISHES AND OTHERWISE PREPARES SURFACES FOR PAINTING, VARNISHING, STAINING, AND LACQUERING. * Maintains a good working knowledge of wood species and how each one accepts paints and stains uniquely. * Sands and strips existing finishes as required for new applications. * Is skilled in preparing many surfaces to receive new finishes. These include but are not limited to drywall, plaster, hollow-metal doors and frames, aluminum ceiling grid, wood doors and trim, metal access doors, glazed and ceramic tiles. * Displays good working knowledge of preparing new drywall for finishing. This includes mudding, taping, sanding, and priming the surface efficiently and effectively. * Performs all the above in a safe, efficient manner.

  • FILLS HOLES, JOINTS AND CRACKS IN WALLS WITH APPROPRIATE FILLER MATERIAL. APPLIES VINYL WALL COVERING WORKING WITH ADHESIVES AND OTHER SURFACE PREPARATION MATERIALS IN A SAFE AND EFFECTIVE MANNER. PERFORMS ALL DUTIES RELATED AS ASSIGNED OR REQUESTED AS WELL AS SELF GENERATED. * Displays knowledge of the proper way to prepare a surface to be refinished. Includes patching walls and knowing when to remove existing vinyl wall covering or using vinyl to vinyl adhesive. * Shows a high skill level in all aspects of hanging vinyl wall covering, including double cutting and trimming around casings and corners. * Accepts and performs all assigned projects and identifies other areas in need of improvement throughout the facility. * Displays working knowledge of fire caulking, proofing, and maintaining rated wall assemblies. * Performs all the above in a safe, efficient manner.

  • SELECTS, PREMIXED PAINT OR MIXES PAINT TO MATCH EXISTING OR SPECIFIED COLORS THAT COMPLIES WITH SPECIFICATIONS, PRINTS, AND STANDARDS ESTABLISHED WITHIN THE INDUSTRY OR THE MEDICAL CENTER * Displays a high skill level in identifying existing finishes on walls and the proper products and techniques required to re-finish the surface. * Maintains awareness of hospital standard finishes and their appropriate applications. * Has a good working knowledge of all products in the trade and uses paints, brushes, rollers, and other tools to perform duties in the most effective manner. * Displays the ability to identify hospital standard finishes and touch up areas in need of repair rather than repaint the entire room.

  • REMOVES & REPLACES FLOORING * Has a good working knowledge of flooring, including carpet, carpet squares, etc. and other specified flooring materials. * Maintains awareness of hospital standard finishes and their appropriate applications. * Performs all the above in a safe, efficient manner
