Development Leader – Diagnostic Sample Unit, Product Quality

Uppsala, Sweden

The Diagnostic Sample Unit at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Uppsala is a team of 12 engaged colleagues that belongs to the Product Quality department, within Production Allergy. The team is responsible for the company's needs of human test fluids (serum and plasma samples), which means everything from establishing collaborations with suppliers, purchasing, and screening, to handling and manufacturing of samples. The serum and plasma samples are then used in the development and control of the company's allergy diagnostic products.

This position is based in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,900 employees worldwide, and 1,000 in Sweden, we are the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.

How will you make an impact?

As a member of the Diagnostic Sample Unit, you will work cross-functionally to make sure that we have the right human test samples to support the quality control of our products as well as development of new products.

What will you do?

In the role of Development Leader within DSU, you will:

  • Together with two colleagues, coordinate and lead the procurement of human samples to ensure that we have samples for product development and quality control.

  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborations with external suppliers and partners.

  • Work on searching, compiling, and analyzing data using our internal laboratory data system.

  • Take care of our incoming samples and ensure that they are registered in our database.

  • Actively participate in the team's quality work and business development.

Keys to success:

We are looking for a positive-minded person who is an excellent collaborator, who provides clear communication and who works proactively. You focus on the big picture and can analyze and re-prioritize tasks within short time frames depending on the organization’s demands.

Further, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has a university degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology or equivalent.

  • Is proficient in Swedish and English (both written and oral).

  • Is a good collaborator with clear communication skills.

  • Is reliable, well-organized, and accurate and has ability in prioritizing and planning your work.

  • Has experience from procurement of biologicals and knowledge of laws and regulations affecting sample procurement activities.

  • Has experience working in a cross-functional environment.

  • Has experience from regulatory and quality related activities and product development within life sciences.

  • Knowledge of allergy/immunology, ISO and IVD regulations as well as and knowledge about laws and regulations affecting sample procurement is a merit.
