JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, PA has an excellent opportunity available for a Part-Time Psychiatrist beginning July 1, 2024. Hours worked are 3 to 8 hours per week.

Primary responsibility is serving as a substitute physician collaborator for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners at CAPS. Additional responsibilities as needed include providing psychiatric care, primarily evaluations and medication management, to university students within a multidisciplinary setting as needed, as well as and collaborating with mental health clinicians at CAPS as needed. One hour is allocated for psychiatric evaluations and 30 minutes is allocated for follow-up visits. There is minimal insurance billing, and all billing is handled by staff assistants.

Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexually and/or gender diverse students.

Requires a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree or higher plus a minimum of six years of related experience. Must be licensed in Pennsylvania by start date of position. The successful applicant should be Board Certified with either the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and should also have an unrestricted DEA license.

State College, PA, a university town, with a population of 105,000 (which includes the State College borough and surrounding townships) was recently cited as one of the top university towns in the United States. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours from State College and Baltimore is about 3 hours. State College and the university provide the major intellectual, cultural, and recreational resources for central Pennsylvania.
