Description

Governors State Universityseeks to fill the position ofAssistant Athletic Trainerwho will operate under the direction of the Team Physician and Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports and works with athletes to provide injury prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation for athletic injuries and illnesses.\ \ Essential Responsibilities:\ Attends athletic events and practices which requires flexible work hours.\ Provides training and information for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for athletes.

Administers preventive or rehabilitative treatment to athletes engaged in various university sports.

Maintain general treatment orders to be reviewed/approved annually by team physician.

Oversees athletic training facility, including the maintenance of equipment and the inventory of supplies.

Mentor, supervise, and instruct athletic training club students through clinical experiences.

Establishes and maintains accurate records of athletes for eligibility based on physical examinations as well as reports concerning accidents, injuries, treatments, and physician referrals.

Maintain a clean, effective, and efficient athletic training facility.

Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments in daily treatment log.

Record-keeping (including secondary insurance).

Follow/Manage Concussion Protocols established byNATAand ensure timely proper communication to appropriate parties.

Maintain communication with coaches on the care and treatment of their student-athlete.

Adhere to allCCACAthletic Training bylaws, rules, regulations, policy and procedures.

Adhere to allNAIAbylaws, rules, regulations, policy and procedures.

Equips each team with appropriate medical supplies as delegated by Head Athletic Trainer.

Assist in creating a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks and hazards.

Follows-up with coaches to complete appropriate reports for all accidents and files reports with appropriate offices.

Works collaboratively with the Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director and coaches in providing technical services and information for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.

Analyze situations accurately to take an effective course of action and to administer first aid and injury management as needed.

Understand and utilize various modalities used in athletic therapy and treatment and follow standing orders issued by Team Physician.

Supports and educates coaches and faculty by providing information and offering in-service workshops.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer

Maintains open/effective communication.

Promotes the universitys mission, philosophy, and vision.

Situation appropriate professional attire required at all times.

Knowledge of athletic injury prevention and treatment techniques.
