We are currently hiring a Maintenance Superintendent to lead the Maintenance team at our Unity facility in Unity, Saskatchewan.

Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture. The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey and curling, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies, an hour from North Battleford and a 2 hour drive from Saskatoon. How will you contribute to the team?

Directs and leads the overall maintenance efforts for the Cote Blanche Mine. This includes equipment reliability programs, preventative maintenance programs, ensuring effective maintenance scheduling, employee development and skill enhancement plans and implementing continuous improvement activities into the maintenance department.

  • Manage the maintenance department, both surface and underground.

  • Maintain all equipment at the mine, including mining and haulage equipment; mill, hoist, and shafts, and conveyor belt system.

  • Lead the implementation of the Reliable Asset Management (RAM) program and help establish targets on planned vs. unplanned work, work order backlog, preventative and predictive maintenance schedule completion, and ensure a proper maintenance planning process is in place.

  • Aid in preparation of and meet maintenance AOP/budget.

  • Lead in the continuous improvement of the maintenance departments effectiveness and participate in the enhancement of the mine’s productivity.

  • Set expectations for maintenance personnel and take appropriate actions to ensure that they are met.

  • Ensure development of subordinates to achieve goals set for the department.

  • Ensure department compliance with company policies/procedures and MSHA regulations.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

what should you bring to the role?

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in related field or equivalent maintenance experience.

  • Ten (10) years of overall mine maintenance experience

  • Extensive knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance.

  • Knowledge of fixed and mobile mining equipment.

  • Mechanical Engineer with a passion for maintenance and maintenance systems is a plus.
