THE ROLE : The Quality Systems Engineer will be responsible for contributing to developing and maintaining the Quality strategy, policies, processes, standards, and systems for the Sensus Uniontown, Pennsylvania manufacturing operation and its supply chain. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for auditing to ensure process integrity and compliance and may at times be assisted by a third party. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Oversee effective implementation of the Quality Management System throughout the company, including any business accreditations.

  • Maintain the Quality Manuals and Quality Procedures and ensure contents are appropriate for the business.

  • Establish and Maintain CAPA System according to ISO requirements.

  • Review Quality complaints and make sure investigations and actions are taken timely.

  • Prepare Management Review Meetings and collect data as required.

  • Organize and manage the plant internal audit system and the corrective action reporting system.

  • Conduct Quality Systems audits and assist in training/guidance to other auditors.

  • Host and coordinate external Quality System audits. Ex. ISO, NSF, UL, etc.

  • Provide training on Quality issues and business processes.

  • Coordinate the review of Quality procedures associated with the plant.

  • Perform RCCA’s and help resolve those issues.

  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers, and other service providers.

  • Communicate efficiently throughout the shop floor and with own management.

  • Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process, or system.

  • Involvement as a team member on Continuous Improvement/Kaizen teams.

QUALIFICATIONS :

B.S. degree in Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field required.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, new product development, engineering, and quality systems.

  • Familiarity with all facets of operations and engineering processes.

  • Strong math, computer, organizational, people, and engineering skills required.

  • Capable of reading and understanding mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics, PPAP reports, and other design related documents.

  • Strong and demonstrated Continuous Improvement/Lean manufacturing background.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Should have a working knowledge of ISO 9000, statistical techniques, gauging and calibration, SPC, inspection systems and PPAP process.

  • Experience in a machine shop environment, with mechanical ability, and drafting experience preferred.

  • Experience in the areas of plastics injection molding and metal castings is a plus.

  • Experience with automated measuring equipment. ex. CMM’s, Vision systems, etc.

  • ASQ-CQE or ability and interest in obtaining this certification is preferred.

  • 6-Sigma Black Belt or Greenbelt Certification desirable.

  • Excellent computer skills (including, but not limited to: Windows, Office, Visio, Project Manager, Windchill, Salesforce, BPCS, ShopVue, Workday, PC-DMIS and Internet

  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

DAY IN THE LIFE :

In this role, the working environment is both office and manufacturing shopfloor where PPE and safety protocols are observed. The physical demands may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and moving about the facility; potential occasional medium lifting of 25-35 pounds. In addition, this role may require extended hours to meet customer requirements.

The estimated salary range for this position is $68,000 to $80,000. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
