JOB REQUIREMENTS: Under the general supervision of the Food Service Manager, the Food Service Assistant 3 functions as the lead worker in Dietary Services at WVHUG. Duties include leading and coordinating Food Service Assistant 2 employees engaged in portioning product, tray line posts, ware washing, cleaning and sanitation, and assembling nourishments and snacks. The incumbent trains and mentors food service staff in all aspects of their job. Work activities are performed according to established procedure and in accordance with safety, sanitation and production standards of WDVA and WVHUG. This Food Service Assistant 3 works 6:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, plus every other weekend. The position requires availability to work overtime as needed. Job duties include moving carts weighing an average of 500 pounds safely through hallways; moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance; moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance; and performing medium to heavy manual labor. Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment.
