Project Leader - Remote

The Critical Power Department is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure equipment. Our Management Team members are factory trained on most major UPS manufacturers of static equipment (e.g., Ametek, SCI, Cyberex, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Gutor, APC, MGE, Schneider Electric, Powerware/Eaton) to name a few. The Project Leader provide support to our external and internal customers in the way of engineering support, quoting projects, procuring material quotes from vendors, ordering required material to support projects, technical support to the M.C. Dean customers and Field Engineers, and but not limited to assisting Administration staff. Typical systems include but are not limited to UPS systems, battery systems associated with power backup systems, Static Transfer Switches, Power Distribution Units and their associated controls.

Supervisory Controls:

  • The Project Leader is afforded freedom of action within the framework of established policies, procedures, and production schedules; accomplishing assignments on own initiative. Completed work is subject to review for adherence to policy, soundness of recommendations, and overall accomplishment of organizational tasks and functions.

  • Provides technical assistance and expertise on power electronic devices to end users (customers) and Field Engineers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responsible for preparation of project documentation requirements, project layout, and field office support.

  • Developing a resource loaded CPM schedule with time scale logic in InfraLink scheduling and CRM software.

  • Coordinating and running a project kick-off meeting (PKOM).

  • Forecasting cash flow and manpower needs for projects.

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and project specifications.

  • Working with the Regional Manager to develop a budget and cost codes for a project and assigning costs and manpower to the scheduling Team for tracking and accounting to verify revenue.

  • Researching and compiling submittals, pricing change orders and preparing estimates for designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.

  • Meeting with potential customers to present proposals.

  • Understanding and following bid procedures and bid forms.

  • Conferring with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.

  • Coordinating the acquisition of major materials, monitoring tool and equipment requirements with the Regional Manager and the Procurement Team.

  • Assisting in acquiring all required permits and licenses for projects and ensuring all inspections are handled correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Overall financial management of the project (s).

  • Responsible to keep the profitability at and/above budget.

  • Expediting and tracking of all change orders.

  • Assuring a timely completion of a project including the completion of punch-list items, the submittal of accurate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and the completion of all training and other administrative requirements.

  • Monitoring project progress, preparing monthly reports analyzing the accuracy of the budget, schedule, cash flow and manpower forecasts.

  • Identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvement and incorporating best practices.

  • Ensuring KPR’s are complete, and all information is accurate.

  • Developing a project plan as required.

  • Ensuring all safety regulations are adhered to.

  • Perform frequent Safety Audits of Field Engineers.

  • Assist in Reviewing contracts and customer negotiations.

Position / Candidate Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience with a Bachelor’s in Engineering degree and work experience in the Critical Power Industry.

  • OEM experience (Ametek, SCI, Cyberex, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Gutor, APC, MGE, Schneider Electric, Powerware/Eaton) or eight years of progressively difficult experience in power electronic system maintenance and repair.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical instructions, plans blueprints, and schematic diagrams.

  • Strong working knowledge of industry maintenance practices, power Systems operational procedures, and quality control procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex electrical systems, perform damage assessments, estimate maintenance, parts, and manpower requirements, diagnose malfunctions, and employ testing and inspection techniques.

Pay Range:

  • $113,250 - $181,200
