Position Description:

The Project Engineer 2 provides technical & administrative information to others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all basic engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instruction; trouble-shoots engineering related installation problems. This individual will work closely supervised and solve problems of limited scope and complexity.

Travel Requirement: Starting in Tyson's Corner, VA. then Relocating to Colorado in June 2025 for 16+ months during construction & commissioning. Thereafter, this candidate will be Returning to Tyson's Corner after commissioning is complete & site is fully operational to turn over to facilities management team. Long term stay in Colorado under other projects are options for consideration.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project; ensure the success of their superintendent(s) and crews.

  • Manage the complete material lifecycle: prepare specifications, coordinate design, review submittals, purchase material, track shipments, and confirm deliveries.

  • Maintain organized and detailed project records.

  • Identify, document, and resolve issues; ensure correction at the root-cause.

  • Support project-closeout including punch list creation, management, and closure.

  • Maintain as-builts as work is completed.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.

  • Organize, prioritize, and manage many competing responsibilities.

  • Communicate direction and ensure that it has been understood and carried out.

  • Communicate with people outside the Company, represent the Company to customers, the public, the government, and other partners while maintaining a professional and courteous image.

Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience with Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferably from an ABET accredited program).

  • Minimum 2 years’ ofexperience working for in Construction Industry

  • Knowledge of design principles, relevant codes, and safety standards

  • Familiar with producing and maintaining construction documents through the life cycle of the project:

  • Specific to design drawings, shop drawings, specifications, calculations and narratives, contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, RFI’s, submittals and change orders.

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.

  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
