Position Summary:

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for providing daily planning, guidance and supervision to direct reports in shipping department. The Leader must also supervise shipment operations and maintain records of all pertinent documentation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan all shipping activities in keeping with the company’s objectives and targets in alignment with all Logistics department direction

  • Ensure timely planning and shipping of material to the end customer or upstream stocking points

  • Oversee and review the accuracy of shipping documentation in accordance with all trade compliance regulations.

  • Ensure shipping functions are performed safely and in accordance with established EHS procedures

  • Maintain and issue shipping performance KPI’s

  • Identify and implement cost reduction measures to drive operational efficiency

  • Plan for the development of the staff by organizing training sessions

  • Provide leadership…select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

  • Manage suppliers and service providers that support site-specific shipping functions

Key Competencies and Success Factors:

  • Good leadership skills to drive continuous improvements in the shipping & warehouse operations

  • Strong analytical & organizational skills…very detail oriented and be good with numbers

  • Solid interpersonal skills…ability to motivate staff and to interact with various departments throughout the organization

  • Resourceful, can find solutions to unusual problems and meet customer needs

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Expertise with working with Carriers, Freight Forwarders and Vendors

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent supervisory skills

  • Experience within operations or warehouse management environments preferred

  • Experience in moving inbound and outbound freight and leveraging freight consolidation techniques preferred

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and other shipping software.

This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.
