Responsibilities You will operate one or more types of heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, or load materials, such as sand, gravel, earth, moving and covering refuse, and clearing brush, rocks, tree stumps and other material. You will maintain roads, parking and grounds areas; paved, graveled and surfaced areas on the Base. You will maintain and repair all drainage ditches, culverts, and storm drains to ensure they are free of any sand, damage, debris or vegetation that might otherwise interfere with their function. You will provide heavy equipment services for authorized customers, to include, but not be limited to, backfilling, digging, loading, hauling, dust control, operations and accessing underground utilities etc. You will drive one or more trucks, such as platform trucks, van trucks, refueling trucks, stake trucks, tractor-trailer with semi-trailer or dump trucks, which typically have a Gross Vehicle Weight over 32,000lbs on public roads at highway speeds. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to operate one or more types of heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, or load materials, such as sand, gravel, earth, moving and covering refuse, and clearing brush, rocks, tree stumps, and other material; Perform maintenance, such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, lubricating equipment, and making necessary adjustments.
