    THE OPPORTUNITY

    Summary: Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a medical practice to ensure office runs smoothly. Responsible for maintaining patient demographics and insurance records. Performs routine duties associated with patient scheduling, payments and co-payments .

    Hours: Mon-Thurs 4:30-7:00p CT and Saturdays 8:00a-12:00p CT

    Essential Duties:

  • Assure the readiness of the reception area for each working day; open the office at the designated time and have all front desk activities fully operational at the start of business hours. 

  • Scheduling patient appointments, 

  • Explaining clinic policy to patients. 

  • Respect and maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient at all times. 

  • Participate in staff and educational meetings. 

  • Check patients in and out. 

  • Collect payment from patients. 

  • Maintain and balance cash drawer daily.

  • Review the physician’s schedule daily. 

  • Print medication sheets for each patient to review prior to visit. 

  • Write down quality measures that are due on the medication sheet. 

  • Print out screening questionnaires that are due Depression screening PHQ- 9 

  • Check patient’s record to see if an Advanced Directive is on file, if not one on file. Print and attach to medication sheet. 

  • Check and see if any vaccines are due. Print medical injection consent forms in case a vaccine will be given. 

  • Prints out CDC vaccine information sheets. 

  • Schedule’s patients for follow-ups and annual wellness exams. 

  • Give patients appropriate medical wellness paperwork to complete.

     

    Qualifications: 

    Employee must be able to perform essential and non-essential duties satisfactorily. The individual must be able to multi-task and have a strong attention to detail. Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all background. Excellent telephone skills and etiquette. Ability to work well under pressure. 

    Education and/or Experience : 

    High school graduate or Medical Assistant experience preferred.

    Language Skills: 

    Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to communicate with patients, physicians, customers and management. 

    Reasoning Ability: 

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 

    Computer Skills: 

    Employee must have knowledge of Medical Billing Software and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Strong PC skills and well versed with using Internet applications. 

    Physical Demands: 

    While performing the above duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, moving and lifting charts and files of approximately 50 lbs or less.
