Canvas Inc. Test Capability Engineer in Tullahoma, Tennessee

Job Title: Test Capability Engineer

Location: Arnold AFB, TN (On-Site)

Canvas is seeking a Test Capability Manager! This position will support the Project Management Division in planning and implementing acquisition strategies to procure and install special test equipment associated with turbine engine testing. Qualified candidates will have in-depth knowledge of jet engine design and operation, as well as extensive experience in ground testing of jet engines. As such, AEDC experience is highly desirable.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Interface with stakeholders to define requirements/specifications/constraints for needed equipment and services, assess options/alternatives, and establish testing validation and verification criteria to ensure system meets requirements.

  • Develop/update project technical documentation including but not limited to Life Cycle Sustainment Plans, Technical Requirements Documents, Statement of Objectives.

  • Work closely with AF Procurement to establish technical evaluation criteria for outside contractor source selection.

  • Provide technical evaluation of outside contractor's project proposals.

  • Coordinate with Test Operations and Sustainment contractor to determine necessary design, fabrication, installation, and testing support.

  • Coordinate with test area personnel to ensure project deliverables meet the desired vision.

  • Brief local leadership and external customers on the status of projects.

  • Support incremental project design reviews.

  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations at various decision points throughout project.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline; Master's degree desired.

  • 3-10 years of relevant experience.

  • Must be knowledgeable of jet engine ground testing.

  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing (as position will have involvement in developing project plans.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Extensive turbine engine testing experience/expertise highly desired.

  • Experience working at a military test facility beneficial with AEDC experience highly desired.

    Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

    Other Essential Job Functions:

    Candidate may be required to work other than normal duty hours to meet submittal deadlines or complete field testing, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
