We have THREE immediate needs for Sr. Software Quality Engineers for the Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) located in Tucson, AZ. You will work with the different cross functional organizations as an individual contributor to ensure verification and validation of design, development, and integration of Raytheon’s digital products. Digital products include artifacts related to embedded code, simulations, firmware, and other artifacts as required by contract.

These are onsite positions.

Responsibilities to Anticipate :

Program Execution Support – participate in all phases of systems/digital products design and development. Ensure that the digital products have are compliant to product/process requirements. Review and approve inputs/outputs to Software, Systems, System Integration and Test and other work products.

Product Continuous Improvement – perform independent evaluations/risk assessments of activities across the digital products development lifecycle. Facilitate continuous improvements by assessing process/product measures to instill a continuous improvement and a data inspired culture throughout your assigned program effort.

Product Integrity – ensure integrity of the digital products & the Technical Data Package. Monitor and participate in the test and release of the work products. Measure and analyze key software attributes.

Teamwork – Provides guidance both to project staff and department senior staff. Guides the effective completion of program quality assessments and may function in a software quality stakeholder role. Interacts with senior product development and test personnel through both written and verbal communication. Has extensive knowledge of emerging software development and quality paradigms.

Process Improvement – improve and deploy Quality Engineering processes. Lead, project activities to improve key processes. Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning. Partner with key stakeholders to improve product quality and process effectiveness.

Knowledge and Tools – practical experience and knowledge with Agile or DevOps software development. Emphasis on software testing, continuous integration, and continuous monitoring to improve product quality in areas such as code analysis, root cause corrective action, information assurance and development methodologies.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and five (5) years of engineering experience.

  • A minimum of five (5) years applying advanced technical principles in the software development process and practice with experience in the following:

  • software/firmware development processes.

  • conducting quality assessments of software products and artifacts.

  • Working experience with Agile or DevOps software development with an emphasis on software testing, continuous integration, and continuous monitoring.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • Advanced degree.

  • Project and workload management skills to utilize resources effectively to satisfy demanding internal customers and implementation schedules.

  • Working knowledge of Earned Value, ISO9000/AS9100 and Integrated Product Development System (IPDS).

  • Experience using CORE/Six Sigma practices and methodologies to continuously improve software systems created using the Quality Management System requirements based on AS9100 and AS9115.

  • Practical experience of Guidance, Navigation, Signal Processing, Radar and Discrimination systems and associated algorithms.

  • Act as an advisor to stakeholders, customers and team members on Software Quality concepts and practices.

  • Meaningful oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Possess the ability to serve as an organizational spokesperson.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
