Job Summary: Manufacturing Engineers develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They analyze product specifications to determine appropriate designs and processes that support these customer requirements. You would apply your skills to develop, test, modify, and create solutions through a collaborative effort with various teams.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Developing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool, and fixture designs

Supporting daily manufacturing areas with process troubleshooting, incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP

Dispositioning non-conforming material with root cause and leading corrective action analysis as required

Driving Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs using Six Sigma principles and data driven decision making

Providing technical support to manufacturers and fabricators; in-house as well as the supply base.

Tool/fixture development

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience .

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines

  • Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with handheld measurement tools, standard methods of inspection and part verification

  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming (ZIESS Calypso preferred)

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) solid modeling tools (CREO preferred)

  • Experience in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software (MasterCam preferred)

  • Experience in Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Manufacturing

  • Experience in Composites Manufacturing (wet/pre-preg layup, press molding, autoclave, filament winding, etc.)

  • Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement and keeps pace with advances in technology

  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

  • Current DoD security clearance (secret)

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Project, Word)

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
