Job Summary:

Raytheon, an RTX business, is seeking an Associate Director (AD) Business Development, Standard Missile (Domestic) to coordinate business development activities and create new opportunities to drive top line growth for the Naval Power (NP) Shipboard Missiles product line. The AD will lead domestic business development efforts and coordinate customer engagements for Naval Standard Missile Systems programs. This person will be responsible for delivering new business solutions to, and coordinate customer engagements with, the U.S. Navy and other U.S. Government customers by leveraging Raytheon capabilities and solutions for Standard Missile and related systems.

The AD will provide direct support to the Raytheon Naval Standard Missile Systems program management office team and will guide cross functional teams to develop strategies and a pipeline of qualified opportunities within the Standard Missile product line. This person will be responsible for developing relationships with customers, guiding/participating in capture efforts to achieve the company’s annual bookings and five-year growth targets, the management of allocated New Business Investment (NBI) financial resources, and identifying new business opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic growth and long-range plan. The AD will represent Raytheon externally with customers and internally as a voice of the customer, furthering collaborative efforts to achieve assigned bookings plan and growth targets. As a member of the NP Requirements & Capabilities (R&C) team, this person will work closely with the other R&C colleagues, RTX Business Units, Raytheon Functional partners, Strategic/Sub-Strategic Business Units, and Naval Power programs as appropriate. The AD will report directly to the Raytheon Naval Power R&C Shipboard Missiles Business Development Executive.

This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Establish relationships with Raytheon program management leadership and U.S. Navy customer decision-makers

  • Develop customer, competitor, and market understanding for assigned naval shipboard missiles market sub-segment

  • Conduct primary and secondary research to determine U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Navy customer needs and generate business leads by developing relationships and identifying and qualifying new opportunities

  • Develop and implement customer contact plans

  • Capture key customer and competitive knowledge and share it across the organization

  • Analyze customer information and develop customer hot buttons and key performance parameters

  • Leverage capabilities of multiple functions and customer access to create, identify, develop, and qualify opportunities

  • Work closely with Naval Standard Missile Systems program leadership and capture managers to provide customer knowledge and strategic support for capture and proposal processes

  • Conduct internal and external customer briefings. Lead and support internal Raytheon Gate Reviews

  • Position will require approximately 10% annual domestic travel for customer engagements and tradeshows

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years’ experience

  • 10+ years in progressively responsible leadership positions

  • 5+ years industry and/or U.S. Government (active duty military, acquisition community, research lab) experience working with naval shipboard missiles and/or combat management systems

  • Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date; ability to be SCI cleared is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of U.S. DoD procurement, fiscal and regulatory environments

  • Working experience with defense system acquisition processes and procedures

  • Knowledge of/experience with Capture/Gate/Proposal process

  • General management and/or naval shipboard missiles experience

  • Relevant business development experience, especially in developing critical relationships

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with special focus on cross-cultural issues; ability to successfully manage sensitive political issues

  • Knowledge of Raytheon’s product and services

  • Relevant government and/or industry experience with an established network across government to include U.S. Navy headquarters staff, Naval Sea Systems Command, research lab organizations and/or Navy operational commands

  • Ability to be creative, innovative, take initiative, and act with speed and agility for advantage

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
