Georgia Systems Operations System Operations Engineer (Level I - Senior) in Tucker, Georgia

66900-127300 per year | Tucker, GA, USA | Salary | Full Time

The Operations Engineering group is responsible for the following functions:

Develop and maintain the economic models used by the operators to assist them in commitment and dispatch decisions. Provide support for Scheduling Member, interchange scheduling, and load forecasting systems; and other applications used for general system operations. Develop annual capacity plan based on input from Scheduling Members. Provide specialized training as required to support operator training requirements. Review, comment, and provide recommendations for compliance with NERC Reliability Standards that affect control center operations. Perform clear analyses of large amounts of data. Provide technical recommendations to all levels of management including Executive Staff, Board of Directors, and Corporate Programs and Projects.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)

Experience:

  • Engineer I - 0 to 2 years

  • Engineer II - 3 to 5 years

  • Senior Engineer - 6-9 years of utility industry experience

  • Equivalent Experience : 5+ years of electric system operations experience with NERC Certification.

Licenses / Certifications: Must obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status as defined in GSOC's CIP Cyber Security Policy 301 and NERC Reliability Standard CIP 004 - Personnel Risk Assessment.

Specialized Skills: Knowledge of Generation Operations and Planning with specific background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Generation Economic Dispatch / Unit Commitment

  • Energy Management Systems / AGC

  • OASIS / Interchange Scheduling

  • Load Forecasting

  • NERC Reliability Standards

Proficient in PC spreadsheet and database applications with ability to write and/or troubleshoot visual basic macros and advanced MS Excel formulas. Project management skills. Effective oral and written communication skills.
