Jacobs is seeking a Field Services Superintendent Inspector to join our collaborative team in Tucker, GA. As a Superintendent Inspector, you’ll conduct inspections for construction/maintenance projects and provide project oversight, ensure adherence to applicable codes, regulations, contracts, design specifications and quality standards.

In this role you’ll:

  • Conduct inspections and project oversight for a broad range of construction and maintenance projects, which may include landscaping, roads, drainage, equipment installation, and other structures and installations.

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors engaged in projects on behalf of the City; conduct weekly contractor meetings; schedule and coordinate inspections and meetings with departments and other county and state agencies; anticipate, prioritize, and time inspections to minimize interference with project progress; provide guidance in unique construction situations; and negotiate and resolve discrepancies with contractors.

  • Coordinate pre-construction activities and meetings; perform initial site assessments; respond to citizen inquiries and anticipate constraint and technical challenges likely to impact projects.

  • Inspect construction materials and workmanship for quality and contract compliance; visits project sites; assesses site conditions; take samples as needed for testing; verifies material quantities match contracts and invoicing; and use various tools, gauges, and test equipment to measure and check for proper construction work.

  • Inspect construction projects for adherence to safety protocols; project schedules; documentation requirements; and federal, state, and County codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Review contracts, change orders, construction drawings, engineering reports, specifications, and project progress reports to evaluate project compliance.

  • Approve pay applications, material orders, and as-built drawings.

  • Maintain records and prepare reports and documentation, including inspection reports, job cost estimates, and project estimates for materials, equipment, parts, tools, and labor.

  • Investigate and responds to citizen complaints; explain projects, policies, and procedures; identifies and assesses problems; determine appropriate remedies; and issue work orders or schedule work as needed.

  • Perform emergency response work; implement preparation and restoration strategies in advance of and after inclement weather or other emergencies; assess hazards and damages; and prioritize and initiate work orders.

  • Collaborate with superintendents, work crews, utility companies, DeKalb County, GDOT, and other agencies to coordinate work.

  • Stormwater operations support

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • At least three (3) years of experience working on construction or maintenance projects

  • Knowledge of construction and inspection practices, techniques, testing procedures, and methods and requirements

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.

  • Knowledge of contractor quality assurance program requirements

  • Ability to provide efficient written and oral communications with citizens, contractors, and coworkers.

  • Physical ability to walk construction sites and work outdoors under varying weather conditions.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Valid Driver’s license with no major infractions

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Associate degree in Construction Management or similar field

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
