Elements Mountain Company Tree Climber Defensible Space in Truckee, California

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2024

Position: Defensible Space Tree Climber 

Pay: $30-36 per hour DOE

Reports to: Defensible Space Operations Supervisor

Position Overview:

As the Tree Climber you will be responsible for the more complex tree removals and pruning where an experienced climber is necessary to complete the job safely and efficiently.   

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record

  • Team player who can communicate and work well with others

  • Uncompromising attention to detail

  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions 

  • Ability to occasionally work in a high stress - fast-paced environment

  • Must consider safety and courtesy high priorities

  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills 

  • Must demonstrate the ability to adapt to environments and situations

  • Ability to lift and carry 50-100lbs

  • Minimum 3 years of tree climbing experience including pruning and removals preferred

  • Preferably 3 years experience in the Arboriculture industry

    Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Climbing trees using approved climbing equipment according to ANSI Z133.1 industry standards

  • Trimming, pruning, shaping trees and shrubs according to ANSI A300 industry standards

  • Static and dynamic cabling, bracing, bolting, guying trees and branches

  • Specialized skills needed to operate and perform general maintenance on equipment such as a chipper, stump grinder, and chainsaw, and other various tools in a safe and responsible manner, according to ANSI Z133 and company standards.

  • Ability to tie tree industry knots

  • Skill to hoist tools and equipment, safely lower branches with ropes, use a block and tackle

  • Daily inspection of all personal climbing and safety equipment including ropes, saddle, PPE

  • Learns, understands, and adheres to all safety rules and company safety policies, participates in all safety training sessions offered, asks questions, and improves job safety skills
