POSITION SUMMARY:   

Martis Camp is looking to add a seasoned Personal Trainer to join our Fitness Department for the Summer 2024 season. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, be a team player, have a positive attitude and a growth mindset. This role also includes opportunities to teach 1-2 group fitness classes a week, with the potential for more. Having experience training endurance athletes or being a certified yoga instructor is preferred, but not required. Our personal trainers also provide support to the Fitness Director and department as needed, from operational to administrative tasks, to ensure a memorable and successful summer season at Martis Camp. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Warmly greet Members as they enter the Fitness Center, making a point to learn and use names as often as possible 

  • Lead personal training sessions for a wide range of clients, from experienced endurance athletes to teens to senior populations 

  • Program and file all personal training sessions for all clients, being able to refer back as needed and track progress 

  • Bill clients using our point-of-sale system, Jonas, and create end-of-shift reports to be filed daily 

  • Instruct engaging group fitness classes, such as strength and conditioning or yoga classes, that foster community and participation 

  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of gym and front desk, such as wiping down and putting away equipment, stocking towels and waters, cleaning and tidying the Group Fitness Studio, and ensuring the gym and front desk always upholds the highest standards of organization 

  • Assist in fitness class setup and clean up 

  • Be readily available to spot lifts for Members, answer questions about our equipment and provide demos, provide beverages from fridge as requested, administer InBody scans for fitness assessments, etc.  

  • Stock and maintain fitness supplies such as hand sanitizer, sanitary wipes, waters, towels, headphones, drinks, and re-stock pool deck bathrooms as needed 

  • Field and respond to Member calls and emails  

  • Keep fitness facility safe and be ready to respond to emergencies, if needed 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES, CERTIFICATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum 3 years of personal training and group fitness experience  

  • Exercise Science or health-related degree (preferred, but not required) 

  • Certified Personal Training Certification (Minimum of 1) 

  • Required: Ability to work weekends, holidays, weekdays. 

  • Required: 21+ 

  • Preferred experience working at a private club or elevated fitness environment 

  • CPR/AED certified 

     

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (with or without accommodation)

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, stand, twist, sit, and walk throughout the day.

  • Ability to stand/ walk for up to 8 hours at a time.

  • Ability to twist, kneel, bend repeatedly when moving inventory, assisting members, and during site clean-up

WAGE RANGE: $21.50-$22.50 per hour + generous commission
