Job Summary

Position Title: Data Analyst

Position Duties: The Data Analyst position in the Undergraduate Education Office Department in Troy, NY will work with the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education to improve student retention by working across the institute to assure that machine learning and Artificial Intelligence modeling is applied to student retention data and used to develop and implement relevant AI based programming for all undergraduate cohorts.

Specifically, Data Analyst will perform the following duties:

  • Work with a team of professionals to develop annual predictions of student performance using the Student Outcomes and Predication with Human in the Loop Artificial Intelligence and integrate learning analytics with existing human-intelligence networks so that alerts, predictive models, and outreach to students might be improved;

  • Work with a team of students and faculty to provide Student life with real time monitoring of students using the Early Warning System or LMS;

  • Maintain, analyze, and interpret data to identify opportunities and develop strategies to advance academic achievement and student success and use data to assess the effectiveness of academic and support services, and develop strategies and programs that align with the Institute’s student success and retention goals;

  • Participate on the university Student Intervention Team with Student Life and provide updates to Student Life Leadership and the Dean regarding data trends and analysis; and

  • Work with the Advising and Learning Assistance Center (ALAC) the Office of the Registrar, and the Division of the Chief Information Officer to optimize student advising and paperwork using chat bots and other technologies.

(This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which allows the Data Analyst to work from home several times a week)

Requirements: Masters in Business Administration, AI/Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Statistical Practice, or other highly data centric field.

A successful candidate must also have at least three (3) months of experience as a data analyst or data analyst intern, which includes three (3) months of experience in the following computer skills:

  • • Advanced Excel;

  • • Python; and

  • • Tableau.

Pay Information

Expected hiring range: $76,232.00 per year

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
