Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training initiatives, distance learning and service to a diverse population of students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree with experience in the area of college admissions/post-secondary education or student services. Master’s Degree is preferred. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel extensively within a 75-mile radius of HVCC and be able to lift and manage boxes of admission materials.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: Working directly with the high school counselors in the College’s service area and the continuous counties, the Admission Counselor will assist with the coordination of group visits. Develop and organize both on and off campus recruitment events and develop strategies and programs to increase applicants to under enrolled programs. Experience and/or awareness of issues involving recruitment of identified special populations (International/foreign born).

Nature and Scope of Duties

The Admissions Counselor will exercise judgement while working independently designing and implementing Recruitment Programs. The Admissions Counselor will report to the Director of Admissions and handle the following duties:

  1. Develop and manage programs designed to increase enrollment in under enrolled programs.

  2. Develop a working knowledge of all academic programs at HVCC and the required pre-requisites for the entry into each program.

  3. Assist the Admissions Office with on and off campus admission events.

  4. Conducts Admissions informational meetings/presentations for parents and student groups both on and off campus. Please note: This position requires working some non-traditional hours and weekends.

  5. Serves as the liaison between Admissions and designated campus office(s).

  6. Develop a working knowledge of BANNER and read files and enter decisions.

  7. Maintains membership in professional education-related organizations.

  8. Assists other offices within the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Development on an as-needed basis.

  9. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.

This is a Full-Time 37.5 hour a week position with a salary range of $40,000-$42,000.
