Duties

We are looking for a Senior Surety Underwriter to join our team in either Dublin, OH, Columbus, OH, Detroit, MI, Louisville, KY or Pittsburgh, PA!

The Senior Surety Underwriter will provide underwriting and marketing duties by providing high levels of financial analysis, risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine credit quality and underwriting.

A typical day includes the following -

  • Gather and analyze information, applying appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of credit quality and acceptability of the risk.

  • Prepare and participate in marketing activities within the region to promote the development of new business. Participate in producer management, including premium collections.

  • Prepare underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions with established authority limits. Maintain and update underwriting files.

  • Prepare and participate in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions.

  • Participate in producer management, including premium collections.

  • Contribute to the region and profit center goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have the following

Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required

At least four years of contract surety underwriting experience preferably with a carrier.

AFSB designation preferred.

The ability to manage multiple priorities, generate new business and be detail oriented.
