Mission of the Position
Supports Component Engineers in the design and development of Cast Iron powertrain housings.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Guidance to design teams in the development of Cast Iron Axle Housings. Special focus on DFM, and mass and cost optimization.
Support cross-functional design reviews and cost workshops, including feasibility reviews with suppliers and customers.
Through mentorship, work to increase the team‘s knowledge of Cast Iron design principals and DFM.
Assist the team in the development of Best Practices/Design Guidelines.
Support the team in development of finished part drawings, ensuring that all relevant requirements and specifications are captured.
Requirements and Qualifications
Extensive experience in the development of Cast Iron Powertrain Housings – able to bridge Design and Manufacturing topics.
Strong GD&T and tolerance stackup competency.
Familiarity with NX CAD software
Knowledge of CAE methods and ability to adjust design based on results.
Ability to perform Flow and Solidification analysis using MAGMA software preferred. – Understanding of results and necessary countermeasures required.
Strong understanding of machining processes relating to housings.
