Mission of the Position

Supports Component Engineers in the design and development of Cast Iron powertrain housings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Guidance to design teams in the development of Cast Iron Axle Housings. Special focus on DFM, and mass and cost optimization.

  • Support cross-functional design reviews and cost workshops, including feasibility reviews with suppliers and customers.

  • Through mentorship, work to increase the team‘s knowledge of Cast Iron design principals and DFM.

  • Assist the team in the development of Best Practices/Design Guidelines.

  • Support the team in development of finished part drawings, ensuring that all relevant requirements and specifications are captured.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the development of Cast Iron Powertrain Housings – able to bridge Design and Manufacturing topics.

  • Strong GD&T and tolerance stackup competency.

  • Familiarity with NX CAD software

  • Knowledge of CAE methods and ability to adjust design based on results.

  • Ability to perform Flow and Solidification analysis using MAGMA software preferred. – Understanding of results and necessary countermeasures required.

  • Strong understanding of machining processes relating to housings.
