Hms Products Co. Controls Hardware Engineer in Troy, Michigan

The Role:

HMS is looking for a highly motivated Controls Hardware Engineer for the Metal Stamping Industry.

Responsible for the design and development of Pressroom automation and Full Servo Transfer equipment. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal design, purchasing, vendors and external contractors in order to deliver an integrated manufacturing solution. Must be willing to tackle whatever technical challenge presents itself and be willing to assist and learn from others in their areas of expertise.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Receive line-up from Project engineer or customer
  • Determine and design control circuits
  • Determine components used and develop B.O.M for Purchasing Dept.
  • Design or choose electrical control panel
  • Design sub plate layout
  • Layout print package in AutoCAD
  • Detail print package in AutoCAD
  • Check design
  • Prepare approvals, build and final documentation for release
  • Retrieve technical information on process, components and logical communications
  • Determine customer specifications
  • Inform Project Manager of project status

Note: This position has some supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience):

  • Training in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic circuits and components
  • Knowledge of machine process, set-up and cabling
  • Knowledge of mechanical prints
  • Knowledge of electrical controls drafting
  • Knowledge of electrical protection, power distribution, servo motion and PLC configurations
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Works well with minimal supervision
  • Good organizational skills
  • Works well with others
