Role Summary
This position is responsible for analyzing Total Addressable Market of vehicle systems and components. The purpose of the market analysis is to identify projected future market sizes of system/component in emerging technology areas, such as electrification, autonomy, and software, using data available in public space and inside of Magna. Key objectives include conducting/documenting the research on market size projection and developing a process of the market size estimation.
Key Responsibilities
Emerging technology research
Research and collect data and information that can be utilized for market size projection
Collect market size forecasts from other companies and/or institutions
Summarize findings and determine core data that Magna can use for its internal estimation
Develop processes for addressable market size projection
Develop methodologies to utilize data collected and available inside Magna
Develop automated routines for data processing using code, such as Python or R
Project addressable market sizes of core systems and components in emerging technology areas
Project total addressable market size using the methodologies developed
Cross check with forecast data published by other companies and/or institutions
Develop Magna’s own market size projection
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Excellent analytical skill set
• Must be fluent in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to generate data processing code is a significant plus.
• Ability to find and extract valuable information from public data and/or online
• Basic knowledge of automobile and automotive engineering is a plus
• Willing to work for 10 to 20 hours per week for 4 to 6 months
Additional Information
• Undergraduate degree in engineering
• Studying in graduate program pursuing a business degree or MBA (highly preferred)
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) and good presence
• High interest in the automotive industry and new technologies
• Creative thinker in developing data processing and analysis
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
