Student Success Advocate Job Description
Full time, 12-month position; some evening and weekend hours (with advance notice) may be required.
Working as part of a Student Success team, in collaboration with offices throughout Russell Sage College, Student Success Advocates provide services for students, staff, and faculty that foster student success at Sage, and helps to position students for continued success on their chosen paths.
The Student Success Advocate will:
Provide outreach and ongoing, comprehensive support for students, understand the varied needs of a diverse student population to provide appropriate and relevant support. This includes scheduled success advising meetings and continued assistance through the semester, in person or virtually, helping students prioritize tasks, utilize resources, and understand the academic and interpersonal challenges of higher education.
Help students to identify obstacles to their success while maintaining confidentiality. Work together with students and stakeholders across Sage to help find student-centered solutions.
Understand and collaborate with all resources on campus and provide appropriate assistance with and referrals to resources, including Academic Advising, Wellness, Tutoring and Student Support Services, Accessibility Services, Financial Aid, the Registrar, Student Accounts, and the Library in order to fully support students toward educational and career goals.
Staff Solutions, work at Sage Ready, Set, Go and (when appropriate) attend RSC 101W in order respond to student need.
Respond to correspondence (email, telephone, and live-chat) related to student need.
Receive and process appropriate information from enrolled students. This includes but is not limited to: Sponsorship forms, Tuition Waivers, and student account payments.
Perform required data entry for student accounts and ensure the accuracy of all information in the database.
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, a variety of registration, enrollment, financial aid and payment related information to students and parents. Explains aid programs, application procedures and eligibility criteria.

Preparing enrollment verifications and transcript requests, as requested by students, alums and/or parents.
Utilize database systems including Beacon, Self-service, and Colleague to identify and track high risk students to provide support, with the goal of achieving positive retention and graduation rates. This also includes participation in the roster reconciliation process, advisory grade distribution, academic standards, and other tasks as delegated.
Provide individualized and intentional outreach to students based on grade performance each semester, i.e., advisory grades, academic standards.
With a focus on select first and second year students, the Student Success Advocate will be responsible for providing general support for students throughout the year, helping students use Student Planning and College Catalog to understand all graduation requirements.
The estimated wage is $17.95 per hour for 37.5 hours per week for 52 weeks.

Student-facing experience in a higher education setting
