Lockheed Martin Supplier Quality Engineer in Troy, Alabama

Description: Sikorsky a Lockheed Martin Company is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced helicopters for commercial and military missions.

Sikorsky Supplier Quality Team seeks a highly motivated individual to provide support as a Procurement Supplier Quality Engineer to support the Troy, Alabama Aerostructures product center. The successful candidate will have a direct impact in the development and implementation of quality planning and investigation of supplier products to drive root cause and corrective action, Scrap, Rework and Repair (SRR) and customer quality escapes reduction, and product fault investigations. Assure Quality standards are implemented and adhered to throughout the product lifecycle. Candidate must be able to perform in a customer-focused work environment, maintaining effective communication with internal/external customers including the DCMA, NAVAIR, AMCOM and FAA. Position requires coordination with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement on product quality issues and effective issue resolution.

Successful candidate will effectively contribute to the product center supplier quality engineering team in support of the Center Corrective Action Board (CCAB), High Visibility (Hi-Vis) escape management process, and data analysis to identify developing trends and maintaining product center key quality metrics. Promote continuous improvement through effective use of Six Sigma Lean manufacturing tools, along with Relentless Root Cause Analysis and DIVE to eliminate discrepancies and escapes. Implement standard work for key processes and support all initiatives for the assigned Product Center. Additional responsibilities include support of the Material Review Board, Quality Council as well as Product Safety and EH&S initiatives. Along with any assignments assigned by management.

Candidates for this position should possess strong product and process knowledge, excellent technical skills, adept with desktop PC applications and information systems, and communication and presentation skills.

This position requires 25% travel and the person will be station in the Troy Alabama facility.

Assist in the development and stand up of new suppliers and work transition initiatives.

Develop and respond to PQDR and customer warranty claim requests.

Basic Qualifications:

Sikorsky product knowledge and understanding.

Bachelors or masters degree or equivalent from an accredited college in an Engineering or related technical discipline.

A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision required.

Proficient with Microsoft office tools, including Microsoft access and project is required.

Six sigma experience or LEAN, knowledge of Lean Product Development (LPD) is preferred but not required.

Thorough understanding of AS9100

Knowledge of Sikorsky systems, engineering drawings, the Strategic Supplier Quality System (SSQS), and Sikorsky Aircraft manufacturing requirements

Knowledge of 3D modeling such as computer aided three-dimensional Interactive application is a plus.

Ability to adapt to changing environments while meeting customer requirements.

Must demonstrate an innate ability to adhere and communicate effectively to diverse groups, and multiple levels of leadership.

Must have problem solving skills at a highly refined level.

Strong written, verbal communication and analytical skills required.

A team player that can work with multiple disciplines in multi-functional organizations.

Results focused with effective scheduling and organizational skills

Prefer experience working with Sikorsky helicopter products and 3-5 years in a production/manufacturing environment.

Experience in root cause analysis, mistake proofing, project management, and technical writing skills.

Must possess effective communication where you are able to structure, prepare and deliver compelling and clear communications to all levels of the organization

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
