SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Kimber Mfg., Inc., a rapidly growing and leading manufacturer of fine sporting firearms is seeking a talented and experienced Materials Manager responsible for material & production planning, inventory control, and shipping/receiving departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish departmental goals and objectives that provide world-class materials performance to the organization

  • Proactively lead the materials team to continuously improve processes and procedures

  • Lead ongoing organization development activities

  • Lead & perform material planning activities from raw materials to finished goods

  • Own and drive day-to-day planning, inventory control, and delivery

  • Lead & perform all logistic activities to ensure best pricing on shipping of goods & timely deliveries to domestic and international customers

  • Cycle counting

  • Establish and track meaningful departmental reports / measurements

  • Analyze reports, measurements and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Planning & Scheduling

  • Create and meet annual Master Production Schedule (MPS). Run Visual MRP and Scheduler

  • Schedule material demands and work order completion dates in system to support production schedule

  • Proactively manage material and work order exceptions and provide feedback to Manufacturing & Product Management on critical information.

    Inventory Management & Control

  • Minimize overall inventory value and increase turns

  • Ensure accuracy of data in system including location, quantity on hand, value, etc.

  • Create procedures and reporting for the effective management of inventory

  • Lead periodic cycle counting and annual wall-to-wall serial inventories

    Shipping & Receiving

  • Ensure all customer orders are appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentation

  • Ensure all outsource manufacturing is appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentation

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Oversee Shipping, Warehouse, & Receiving Supervisor, Planners, and other personnel directly related to inventory, shipping and receiving.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expertise in systems implementation, organization development, planning, logistics and best practices

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and communication skills are required

  • Team attitude; eager to cooperate with others with exceptional interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis

  • Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed expectations

  • Leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegate work to subordinates, and the ability to evaluate and positively influence performance

  • Exceptionally high level of commitment to the success of individuals and overall projects

  • Verbal and written communication skills, including presenting and facilitating team meetings

  • Team player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business administration, material management, accounting, or similar or equivalent

  • Five to ten (5-10) years’ experience in a similar manufacturing environment with extensive experience in planning, inventory, shipping/receiving and MRP systems

  • Competent with computer software such as Visual Manufacturing (or similar MRP system), Microsoft Office, Excel, and Crystal Reports. Solid understanding of spreadsheet applications

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Must have excellent communication skills; reading, writing and listening. Ability write and read spreadsheets.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Some travel may be required.
