Steel Tool and Engineering Co Tool Maker in Trenton, Michigan

Steel Tool and Engineering is an Aerospace Company located in Trenton, Michigan. We are seeking a Tool Maker to work independently to construct, repair or layout tools, gauges, jigs or dies for use within the plant. The Tool Maker would work with the Engineering and Manufacturing departments to problem solve production issues related to new and existing processes, tooling and gauges.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Read and interpret tooling drawings and specifications of tools, dies, proto-types or models.

• Perform project tryout and diagnose and correct any accompanying problems, ensuring the the final project /tool adheres to pre-established specifications (cad data or part print).

• Dismantles and repairs fixture assemblies or replaces damaged details.

• Work with close tolerances.

• Assist in assembling newly procured tooling.

• Operate tool room equipment including, but not limited to mill, tool lathe, surface grinder, band saw and waterjet.
