Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Summary: Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this position is required to maintain all plant equipment in proper operating condition by utilizing preventive maintenance programs, correct maintenance procedures, and safe workplace practices throughout the plant. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment needed to efficiently process product.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Ensure optimal functioning of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing planned (preventative) and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment. Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.

• Inspect machines and equipment to locate problems, replace defective parts and make necessary adjustments to ensure continuing production operation.

• Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, and test parts/equipment on plant and production equipment.

• Troubleshoot and maintain diverse equipment including motor controls, BFD, refrigeration, mixers, conveyors, sensors, printers, and packaging equipment.

• Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

• Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high-quality standards.

• Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees to notify them of problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.

• Ensure paperwork is complete, clear, legible, and accurate. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.

• Utilize continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to improve processes.

• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.

• Follow required safe work practices including logout-tagout, wearing of required PPE in designated areas, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
