Special Projects Specialist

Position Summary

The Special Projects Specialist works within our operations environment to ensure we deliver a stunning and unique restoration that exceeds client expectations and honors our principal that “Everything is Important.” You will assist in the execution of each highly bespoke vehicle build, managing special projects from inception through to completion. This will be a cross functional role working closely with commercial, manufacturing, engineering, purchasing and operations teams.

This role is onsite in Torrance, CA.

Essential Functions

  • Support the definition and execution of special projects across all vehicle programs and through aftersales and Encore

  • Support the execution of spec change requests through aftersales and Encore

  • Represent the specifications and special projects team in the operations environment, assisting in the resolution of any roadblocks or challenges associated with the delivery of spec changes and special projects

  • Facilitate the transfer of parts between engineering and build (Singer HQ) and supply chain (MVC)

  • Request samples of deviating finishes from supply chain/vendors and ensure samples are provided to spec team for client review

  • Keep special projects management system up to date and drive process adherence across all departments

  • Assist with parts movements logistics between Singer and vendors where required

  • Responsible for the coordination of review and sign off of special wishes content by relevant spec managers on arrival at Singer HQ prior to fitment to vehicle

  • Liaise with supply chain and paint team lead to establish which parts are painted in house and facilitate the delivery of the parts to the paint shop to support build timing

  • Support the prompt generation of time and cost estimates associated with new special projects to feedback to our clients

  • Provide high level support in managing the continuously changing information coming from internal functions and Singer clients, maintaining records appropriately. Track and communicate this to all those affected

  • Work closely with the manufacturing and supply chain teams to foresee any build issues upfront and resolve any issues with special projects related items during the vehicle program

  • Contribute to the growth of special projects capability within the business

  • Highlight any potential specification issues to the build & management team, especially if it impacts the ability to build the vehicle on time, tracking to resolution with controlled and agreed change points

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or similar or equivalent experience in a similar role

  • Previous experience of building unique and bespoke vehicles (or similar)

  • Knowledge on vehicle assembly processes and small volume manufacturing techniques beneficial

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of specific experience in relevant role

  • Two (2) plus years of specific experience in After Sales, Service, and manufacturing in the luxury automotive industry

  • Excellent & meticulous planning and coordination skills, use of all Microsoft tool kit

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Previous experience in delivering content for customers with high expectations

  • Two (2) plus years of experience within the luxury automotive industry

  • Prior Experience in rapid growth environment

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended periods

  • Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person, by telephone and email

  • Must be able to work an early, non-standard schedule and long hours when needed

  • Must be able to work in a standing and/or walking position for long periods of time

  • Must be able to reach and work in and around vehicles.

  • Must be able to work in a busy/fast paced automotive shop environment.

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment.

Compensation

The starting pay for this position is $33.50 to $41.90/hr per hour. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
