UCLA Health GI Tech III - Endoscopy Medical Procedure Unit, South Bay in Torrance, California

Description

Under the general direction and supervision of the manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the complex and critical job of endoscope and equipment decontamination / reprocessing and is the departmental expert in this vitally important area. You may also be assigned to assisting with equipment & procedure room preparation, setup, calibration prior to procedures; procedure room breakdown; specimen collection in the GI LAB, inventory control, and scope reprocessing. Responsible for testing, arranging repair and documentation of endoscope processing and repair.

Salary Range: $33.52 - $43.35/hourly

Qualifications

Completion of education from accredited surgical technician program or certified as GI Technician

BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

At least one year of Surg Tech/GI Tech experience

Knowledge and adherence to GI Lab policies and procedures following orientation.

Skill in reading documents written in Standard English text such as, administrative policy and procedure manuals.

Skill in evaluation and implementation of technical information such as operation manuals and directions for use of disinfectants, lubricants and other cleaning agents.

Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly to obtain and convey information to various levels within the organization.

Writing skills sufficient to use appropriate vocabulary and grammar when logging, reporting etc.

Ability to speak on a one to one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and provide information.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all team members and ancillary staff.

Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.

Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect importance to job responsibilities.

Ability to work independently and interdependently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.

Ability to adapt to change either in workload or in assignments.

Skill and manual dexterity required to work with intricate equipment without dropping or damaging it.

Ability to stand for prolonged time periods
