Wind Operations Manager – Major Components

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for a Wind Operations Manager – Major Components to join our renewables team. The Wind Operations Manager – Major Components acts as the primary point of contact for asset manager and project managers to support with customer inquiries, maintain customer relationships, supports the management of projects, ensures budgets, margins, and timelines are met, and personnel resources are available. In this role, the Wind Operations Manager – Major Components will manage and oversee contracts, develop details and specifications for project, find opportunities to quote, and review quotes with the correct use of the quote review process. The Wind Operations Manager – Major Components will also have significant contact with customers to communicate any changes to projects or work being performed, answer customer questions directly, conduct research as necessary, or refer them to a subject matter expert and obtain feedback to determine satisfaction level of customer.

What will do you as the Wind Operations Manager – Major Components?

  • Manage business unit P&L, prepare budgets, and issue targets. Participating in forecasting as needed.

  • Host a weekly cadence meeting with your staff. (Asset Manager / Project Manager meeting) and monthly Safety Meeting with entire team

  • Participate in weekly cadence meeting with your supervisor to review objectives and plans for the week.

  • Attend the monthly Operations review meeting.

  • Ensuring invoicing is approved and distributed to customers and review A/R & support in collections where needed.

  • Review open / recently closed jobs (margin, revenue) and evaluate any work orders that can be invoiced.

  • Monitor hour utilization and make decisions relating to Human Resources. Reviewing work schedule and making suggestions as required.

  • Meet with the top customers to review the prior year's activity, and plan for the next year's budget.

  • Ensure Annual Operating Plans are distributed to customers where required and ensure contractual scope obligations are met.

  • Assign all unassigned customers and prospects to an AM / PM and ensure PM Projects are set up for monitoring throughout the year.

  • Purchase or sell off of inventory, trucks and tooling.

  • Create action (get well) plans to course correct a failing business unit.

  • Mentor/train and/or discipline employees to improve performance, conducting quarterly check-ins.

  • Review and approve purchases.

  • Attend meetings with AMs/PM and their customers regarding possible issues, additional "punch" to close deals, and support.

  • Ensure change orders / additional quotes are generated for work done outside of project scope.

  • Monitor the costs and margins to identify problems throughout the life of the project, regardless of size.

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:

  • Experience – 5-10 years experience in Wind Major Components.

  • Gear box change / oil change

  • Bearing change outs

  • Blade repair / replace

  • Crane lift plans

  • Troubleshooting

  • Transformer maintenance

  • OEM experience: Vestas/Siemens/GE/Nordex

  • Experience in project, quality, health, and safety management an asset.

  • Education – Post-secondary degree/diploma

  • Previous experience managing a small, highly effective team.

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
